The first project from the suitcase is complete! The 1939 dress was made using a pattern from 'Vintage Dress Patterns of the 20th Century' by Anne Tyrell that I scaled and graded up to fit a size 10-12.
As the dress pattern pre-dates the introduction of clothing rationing in World War Two the skirt is cut on the bias allowing it to use more fabric and the buttons are non-functional. The dress is made of cotton print with a plain cotton interlining.
The very exciting news about this dress is that Sandra from Auntie Audrey's Vintage Home has offered to try to sell it for me on her stall at a local vintage fair!
Hello and welcome to my blog! I'm a recently graduated Historical Costume student with a great love for sewing and plan to use this blog as a place to document my creations. I especially love the Eighteenth and early Nineteenth Centuries so expect lots of posts from those time periods though other eras will crop up from time to time.
